Rebekah was at the well when Abraham’s servant found her. Abraham had told his servant to find his son, Isaac, a wife, and if a woman offered to draw water for not only the servant but all ten of his camels as well, then the woman was kindly enough to be brought into the family.

Rebekah, who was tending to her father’s flock, offered water to the stranger who approached, and began drawing water for the camels immediately after the servant was satiated. The servant invited Rebekah to come with him meet Isaac, and they fall in love at first sight. This piece shows Rebekah at her well, drawing water, with a lamb resting beside it.
